Claire Louise
Claire is a UK-based illustrator known for her hand-painted, narrative-led artwork that captures memory, place, and emotion through expressive scenes and detailed illustration. Working in watercolour pencil and ink, she creates whimsical, storytelling imagery featuring florals, wildlife, and nostalgic childhood-inspired moments, alongside bespoke architectural illustrations of iconic buildings and meaningful locations.
Her building works are often commissioned pieces that celebrate tourist landmarks and personal places of significance, translating them into illustrated keepsakes that evoke a strong sense of memory and atmosphere. Across all her work, Claire’s focus is on storytelling, emotional connection, and creating illustrations that resonate within lifestyle, gift, and interiors markets.
With a background in fashion design, Claire graduated with First Class Honours in 2007. In the same year, her hand-painted silk scarves were shortlisted for London Fashion Week, and she received recognition from the Society of Dyers and Colourists at Graduate Fashion Week.
Claire draws inspiration from nature, wildlife, travel, architecture, fashion, music, and personal memory. Raised in the countryside of Durham, she continues to explore cities, cultural landmarks, and everyday life for inspiration. Her process begins in a sketchbook and evolves into finished illustrations developed for licensing across a wide range of products.
Her work has been recognised within the UK gift and greeting card industry, including being a finalist in the Henries Awards in 2023 and 2025, and being named in the Brands Untapped Top 100.
Claire’s designs have been licensed across gift, homeware, stationery, textiles, fashion accessories, and tech products. Her work has also been featured on cushions, ceramics, and homeware in leading interior and lifestyle publications such as Elle Italia, Falstaff Living, Your Home, LIFE Magazines and more. Her ceramics were also featured on The Great Pottery Throw Down.
Her collections have been stocked by leading retailers and destinations including John Lewis, Fenwick, Kew Gardens, Chester Zoo, LA Philharmonic, The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, as well as major online platforms such as Wayfair, Amazon, and Debenhams.
