Steve Smith

Steve is an Army brat born in Tripoli, Libya in 1952 who settled in Los Angeles at age 9 . He attended Occidental College followed by a career in photography beginning in Hollywood in 1975. In 1994 Steve relocated from Venice, CA to Sun Valley, ID.

“I daily channel my deep appreciation of the environment by trying to capture those evanescent moments when nature, sometimes even for a millisecond, reveals itself in full glory. I am compelled to record the light and thus preserve that which I feel must be protected, whether wide open spaces or a meadow bird about to take flight. With my wife, Jeane, we’re on a journey through photography to explore the elements that enhance our lives: love, wonder, joy, simplicity, gratitude, habits, and the moment.”
